Live.js →
“is a productivity tool, primarily aimed at front-end developers working in a development environment. It allows you to view the latest changes to your web page in the browser in real time, an auto refresh of sorts. In other words, whether you’re editing JavaScript, CSS or HTML files, as soon as you hit CTRL-S, the browser is updated with your changes. So in theory, when in development,...

Naconf: Trent Walton
We’re just back from Nottingham, for the New Adventures in Web Design Conference. One of the speakers we really wanted to see was Trent Walton. If you’re not familiar with Trent, his personal blog is a great showcase of both fonts and responsive design. He’s also well-known for his work for Lost World’s Fair, a website to show the capabilities of fonts and CSS3, working...

Noorderslag Interactive 2012
Just came back from an inspiring first Noorderslag Interactive. Definitely hope that the event will grow larger next year, in addition to the (awesome) Eurosonic Noorderslag music festival. My favorite quotes and cases of the day: Interactive Pigs Can our ideas about meat and animal welfare change when it becomes personal? Kars Alfrink, a Dutch game designer, showed us his concept of an iPad...

Twine is a square with WiFi connection that can be programmed (without learning to code) to send notifications when ‘anything’ happens. From their Kickstarter page: “Want to hook up things to the Web? Maybe you want to get a tweet when your laundry’s done, or get an email when the basement floods while you’re on vacation. Even if you’re good with electronics...

Today Adobe announced to discontinue Flash for mobile devices. So now is a good time to post this (Dutch) Fronteers talk by Wietse Hage more than 3 years ago. The predictions might look obvious now, but this was at a time that even Apple/Steve hadn’t publicly said that they would never support Flash on their mobile devices.

Because of good infrastructure, distance is no problem in a small country like the Netherlands. TIMEMAPS shows maps that are not based on distance, but on travel time with public transport. The map expands at night, when travel times increase. Play with it on (the very well designed) TIMEMAPS website. A project by Vincent Meertens.
